The Type of Revelations One Gets When Not In The Proper State
So in the past few days I have not been in, what the medical community would classify as “sober”. As I can recall, I still have my liver, I’m not married, and I don’t have a bad feeling in my bottom, so nothing physically notable happened. I am more interested in the intellectual and philosophical changes that occurred.
I have realized that as fun as being intoxicated in any sort is, in itself, fun, is over rated. Don’t get me wrong, being high, drunk, trippin, or any other word for being messed up is a hell of an experience. Great for soul searching in the right doses. But it is a highly over rated phenomenon. If done to a point, it all loses meaning.
You being to focus on smaller things when you have the thought flow from being intoxicated and you appreciate the ordinary. You find novelty in ordinary. You look at things new.
I have realized that just existing and seeing another day is in itself a whole lot more amazing than the reaction of your body to a tampering of a number of chemicals in the brain. The everyday is more amazing than the, well, amazing. The little events that happen to us throughout the day are tiny steps to the bigger better future. The now is just a taste of what we were working towards in the past. We should work for the future but we should also focus on the now. The gorgeous, amazing now.
